Monday: books and work-in-progress
Somehow today I managed to get pages cut out and organized for two books, started editing two new letterpress pieces, and get a pretty good start on two new compilation pieces, all for a show coming up in March. I don’t know how I managed all of this, since it is a Monday, but hey! I’m not going to question these things!
Saturday was the opening for a great show I am in at Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts. First show is up through the end of the month, and really, if you can, go see it! It is an ecclectic mix of artists – the only thing we have in common is that we are all members of BLCA and participated in and won first place in our categories in the 2010 members show. There was no other theme set for this show, and no planning other than “bring about 10 pieces to hang and we’ll go from there”. Yet somehow our work flows so well together, from one room to the next. It is pretty awesome and I’m happy to have my work there!
I’ll end with a couple of photos – my next books in progress! This is the ‘Autumn’ book (and my photo of the day) and the ‘Winter’ book from my ‘Seasons’ series. I’m still working on summer. Next step is gluing pages together and picking out a cover paper!
Until next time,
~peace~
Work-in-progress: The walled city
Using a virtual reality machine was the only way
to get over the wall and into the city.
Going there physically, in Real World, was far too dangerous.
The walled city had not been habitable for decades,
yet it’s toxicd environment bread the most interesting creatures.
We went to watch them often.
(Inspired by Cherie Priest’s book Boneshaker)
Work-in-progress: Mirrors
The mirror reflected back Real World perfectly;
an exact replica.
But, if you were plugged in and looked at it,
you saw the real bits:
the digital code and the analog gears and bolts,
all of the things that made the world actually exist.
Day 16
Ok, not the best daily photo, but I still took one!
There are no weather related posts on this blog….
….ok, there may be if you scour the archives. I honestly don’t know, and honestly this one has already mentioned the weather now, so I guess that doesn’t matter! I know it is possible to be depressed about a lack of sunshine but can you be depressed from a lack of snow? After hearing so many people talking about our crazy warm weather here, and how the snow will be melting all over again, I have a serious case of the blahs. Funny though, someone invented these cool ear buds to help with depression due to a lack of light, I wonder what anyone could do for depression due to a lack of snow and cold? Perhaps I should go stick my earbuds in the freezer….
